About Hidden Stitch Supply
I'm Mark. I run Hidden Stitch Supply.
I started this because I kept finding well-made workwear and heritage menswear in places most Australian buyers never see: selvedge denim, chore coats, military-inspired trousers and traditional workwear with proper fabric weights and useful construction details.
I like these clothes because they are easy to wear, built to last and often become more interesting with age. The difficulty is that many of the better-known options are expensive. When I went looking for well-made alternatives at more accessible prices, I kept ending up on Chinese marketplaces.
Why I started the shop
Those marketplaces opened up an enormous range of clothing, but buying from them was rarely straightforward. There was a language barrier, unfamiliar ordering systems and product information that could be incomplete or contradictory. Important details were sometimes buried in images. Size charts did not always match the garment. I received things that were very different from what I expected, and on one order I was simply scammed.
At the same time, I found some of the best-value clothing I had handled anywhere. The problem was not finding something that looked good in a photograph. It was working out what could actually be trusted.
I kept thinking that I wanted a shop to do the difficult part for me: find the garment, get it in hand and explain what it was really like. Eventually, I left my corporate job and started building that shop.
How products are chosen
Hidden Stitch Supply is not meant to be a huge catalogue copied from supplier listings. Before a product is approved for launch, my standard is to order a physical sample, feel the fabric, inspect the construction and hardware, try it on and take garment measurements. I then compare what arrived with what was originally claimed.
If the fabric is excellent but the hardware is ordinary, I will say so. If I like a garment but the fit will not work for everyone, I will explain that too. I want to tell you the things I wish someone had told me before I ordered.
Sizing without the guesswork
A familiar size label does not always mean what you expect when a garment was made for another market. Simply copying the original small, medium or large label is not useful enough.
Product pages use standardised US sizes where needed and include garment measurements so you can compare them with clothing you already own. Fit notes call out anything that runs small, short, narrow or roomy. If you are unsure, you can contact me before ordering and I will help you compare the measurements.
A considered collection
I am keeping the collection deliberately small. I do not want to add products simply to make the shop look bigger. Every garment should earn its place by being something I am proud to offer, would be happy to own and would wear as part of my own collection.
That does not mean every product will be perfect or right for everyone. It means I have handled it, formed an honest opinion and will give you the useful details and trade-offs before you decide.
