Choosing your selvedge jeans
Start with the shape you like, then choose the weight and feel of the denim. Lighter cloth can still feel firm when new; a heavier one-washed pair can have a softer starting feel.
- OKONKWO 13.2 oz straight jeans: a mid-high rise and full straight leg in sanforised indigo denim.
- 15.5 oz raw straight jeans: more room through the seat and thigh, with firm, textured denim.
- Maden 11.7 oz khaki jeans: a slim-straight cut in khaki-brown cotton denim without stretch.
- Maden 10.9 oz Crimson jeans: a slim-straight leg with a gentle taper, a warm red cast and subtle stretch.
- 18 oz Year of the Horse jeans: a straight leg, slubby heavyweight cloth and a one-washed finish. The inseam is 76 cm (29.9 in).
Check the finish and sizing. The Crimson jeans are unsanforised and need a first soak, but their sizing already allows for this. The 15.5 oz pair’s size numbers are labels, not measured waist sizes in inches. Use each product’s size guide and its own wash advice; there is no single size-up rule for raw denim.
