These heavyweight, straight-fit selvedge jeans have more character than their dark raw-colour exterior first suggests. At 18 oz, they feel substantial, but the one-wash finish takes away the board-like stiffness often associated with denim at this weight.

Fit

The cut is mid-rise with a standard straight leg. HSS carries the longer of the supplier's two versions, with a 76 cm inseam. The denim has no stretch, so use the garment measurements in the size guide rather than relying only on the tagged waist size.

Fabric

The 18 oz selvedge denim is made from 100% cotton with a visibly slubby, textured surface. Its one-wash finish softens the initial feel while preserving the weight and character of heavyweight denim.

Construction

Flat-felled seams are used throughout, with six rivets reinforcing the front and coin-pocket corners. Bar tacks strengthen the crotch, while the rear-pocket bar tacks are backed with felt reinforcement. The lower ends of the belt loops are stitched into the waistband, and a YKK zip fly completes the construction.

Year of the Horse Details

Most of the special-edition detailing is kept inside the jeans. Red stitching runs throughout, accompanied by heavyweight red twill pocket bags, a printed red waistband lining, prosperity-themed artwork and internal embroidery. On the exterior, the coin pocket carries a small selvedge detail finished with gold thread.

Sizing and Shrinkage

Choose your usual measured waist as a starting point, then compare it with the garment measurements in the size guide. The waist should fit well when the jeans first arrive. A small amount of shrinkage may occur after the next wash, but the waistband should stretch back to its original size with wear. Do not size up purely to allow for shrinkage.

Care

Wash cold and inside out with similar dark colours, then line dry. The jeans have already been washed once, but a small amount of further shrinkage may occur after the next wash.
